Simon Alexander is ONE!!
We are so thankful for this boy.  He is full of smiles and sweetness.  He took his first steps the day before his birthday.  And now he is walking around like a champ!  He loves watching his big brother and has just begun being able to really play with him.  He loves cheerios.  And books.  I melt every time I see his smile.  Oh, how I love this handsome boy!

Willis’ newest cultural prediction: doughnuts are the new cupcakes.

Charleston’s new gourmet doughnut shop has finally opened.  Glazed is located at 481 King Street.  We hope to check it out very soon.  Stay tuned for pictures and our personal review.  Here is an article by the Charleston City Paper that introduces the owners and the menu.

Simon and his great-grandmother, Bernice Rexrode.  I can only hope that one day I will look as beautiful as she does with so many wrinkles.

Virginia in the Fall.

We had the wonderful privilege of visiting Virginia last week.  Henry, Simon, and I spent a week in Waynesboro and then we met up with Willis in Virginia Beach.  Over the next week or so, I’ll be posting some pictures from our trip.  It was so good to be with family, friends, and changing leaf colors.  (Sorry, South Carolina, but Virginia trumps you big time when it comes to Fall enjoyability.)

Recently, I have been contemplating my wardrobe.  Partly because the seasons are changing.  But mostly because I am remembering what life is like without wearing maternity clothes or nursing-friendly attire.  I became pregnant in August 2008 with Henry.  I have either been pregnant or nursing since then.  While I will need nursing-friendly clothes for a little while longer, I am already beginning to anticipate a time when my clothes will not have to serve the needs of a child (inside or out).

I am intrigued by minimalist wardrobes.  I like the (ideal) concept of having only a few key pieces that can be worn in different ways.  This video inspires me towards just that.  Maybe I just need a few scarves and I’ll be set?!
